Life in a Wetland
Lake Superior is a complicated and dynamic ecosystem. If just one of its physical conditions is changed or its organisms harmed, the entire ecosystem is altered. This is especially troubling in the Lake Superior ecosystem because, unlike other lakes, its relative lack of biodiversity hampers its ability to bounce back when threatened. In this look at the past, present, and future of Lake Superior ’s ecosystem, find out what can be done to save this beautiful environment.

Research Notes
“To experience mighty Lake Superior firsthand, I planned to drive all the way around its perimeter. The week-long journey would take me through Minnesota, Wisconsin, Michigan, and Ontario, Canada. But my flight to Minnesota was scheduled for the afternoon of September 11, 2001. Needless to say, I had to cancel the trip. Instead, I had to rely on extensive interviews with people who lived and worked around the lake."
