Animals and Habitats
Grades PreK-1, 30 minutes, serves up to 25 students
Following an engaging read-aloud, young children learn about the natural world through activities based on When Rain Falls or Under the Snow.
Celebrating Animal Underdogs, Jr.
Grades K and 1, 30 minutes, serves up to 6 classrooms
Following a lively, interactive read aloud, a multi-grade audience of K and 1 students participate in fun science activities as they discover what inspired Melissa to write Pipsqueaks, Slowpokes, and Stinkers: Celebrating Animal Underdogs. Then they enjoy a fast-paced, entertaining description of the book’s journey to publication.
Celebrating Animal Underdogs  
Grades 2-3, 40 minutes, no limit to size of audience
During this high-energy, interactive program, students participate in fun science activities as they discover what inspired Melissa to write Pipsqueaks, Slowpokes, and Stinkers: Celebrating Animal Underdogs. Then they delve deeply into how Melissa gathered information, focused her topic, organized the material, wrote, and revised through a series of engaging activities
 
Birds of a Feather
Grades 3-4, 60 minutes, no limit to size of audience
Based on the award-winning titles Feathers: Not Just for Flying and A Place for Birds, this fun, interactive program focuses on a bird’s body features and adaptations. It also includes information about the writing and book-making process.
