Elements of Children's Fiction
1 day, 2.5 hrs
In just a few hours, learn the basics of crafting stories children—and children’s editors—will love. This seminar will answer your questions and discuss the major elements of children’s fiction—beginnings, point of view, conflict, dialog, and choosing a target audience.
Marketing to Children's Editors
1 day, 1.5 hrs
Writing a story or article for children is often much easier than getting it published. Marketing yourself and your manuscript takes time, energy, and know-how. This seminar will give you the skills you need to get your manuscripts to the top of the slush pile. We’ll discuss the six areas of the children’s market, how to determine a story’s marketability before you’ve written it, how to target publishers, the difference between queries and cover letters, and the acquisitions process.
